Tucson's 39th annual Pride Weekend kicks off Friday night with the Pride Parade. Saturday, Tucsonans can head to Reid Park for the Pride in the Park festival, but this weekend's festivities will have a lot more security than in years past.

After the attack on the Orlando nightclub this summer, Tucson pride decided to amp up security. There will be more officers, private security, and volunteer officers this year patrolling the parade. Officers will lead the parade down Fourth Avenue. Also, Tucson Pride is asking everyone to leave unnecessary bags at home, but there is no strict bag policy for the parade.

Saturday's festival will be enforcing stricter rules in the interest of keeping everyone safe. The entire event is fenced in, all bags and backpacks will be searched when you enter, everyone will get a pat down, and they're asking people to leave purses at home. No weapons of any kind will be allowed.

Drinks are also prohibited, even if they are sealed. This year, you'll also see more TPD officers along with volunteer officers to help keep everything running smoothly.Drinks are also prohibited, even if they are sealed.
