Thief poses as UPS worker, robs family at gunpoint

Scary moments for a family in Houston when a group of men entered their home posing as delivery men. 

Surveillance video shows the gruesome moments leading up to a robbery that ended with Lawrence Berry of Houston beaten and robbed.
 
Berry's 4-year-old twin daughters and wife were inside the home and hid in a closet for safety. 
 
The video shows a man posing as a UPS driver, dressed in brown UPS uniform and holding a package. Once the door of the home is opened, the man barges in at gun point.
 
Moments after entering the home, three other men holding guns follow him inside beating him and using a taser.
 
UPS tells KGUN 9 that the are deeply sadden by the incident in Houston, adding, "We are fully cooperating with authorities on the investigation. We value the trust customers have in UPS service providers who visit neighborhoods and businesses every day." 
 
They urge customers to always ask for identification when a package is being delivered. Emphasizing customers should take extra precaution and stay alert by looking for a delivery truck and handheld computer. 
 
With millions of package expected to be delivered this holiday season, UPS is reminding customers to stay updated on their packages. 
 
Here are a few tips making sure your packages don't get swiped:
  • Deliver packages to work
  • Give specific instructions to UPS drivers
  • Track and schedule deliveries with UPS My Choice app
  • Send packages to a UPS Access Point
  • Use UPS mailbox services.
Police are working closely with UPS in the investigation.
