When KGUN 9's Pothole Patrol got an email from a viewer about the condition of the deck of 22nd Street bridge over the UPRR tracks, we had no idea what a significant project this would be to repair.
The City of Tucson has a project on the books to replace the 22nd Street bridge over the tracks, but until then, it's being repaired and patched.
We submitted a request to the City DOT's Fast Response Road Repair Team and the westbound side of the bridge was quickly repaired. However, when Pothole Patrol went out for a final inspection before air, we noticed several significant holes on the eastbound lanes as well, including a deep one on the center lane of the bridge's descent, heading toward Tucson Boulevard. We asked to reopen the repair order and everything has now been fixed.
A viewer snapped these on Lavery Lane on the northwest side. Pothole Patrol has gone to work, requesting a repair from Pima County's DOT on this section, where there are several. We'll let you know.
Still out for repair, our request for help from Pima County on Fountains Ave, where viewer Ann let us know about several potholes and deep cracks in the roadway, making it difficult for them to walk near the roadway. The county has analyzed Fountains Ave and has decided that the area needs more of a chip seal-type repair on the road, versus a regular pothole repair. They've put it on the schedule, but still no repair to Fountains Ave, as of yet.
