A Sierra Vista man died from a motorcycle crash on Sunday, according to a news release from the Sierra Vista Police Department.

Police say the crash happened on Avenida Cochise near Copper Sunrise.

Eastbound Avenida Cochise from Coronado Drive to Oakmont Drive will remain closed into the early evening as SVPD conducts an investigation of the incident. SVPD is asking the public to avoid the area for the next several hours until law enforcement has cleared the scene.

SVPD says they received a report of a motorcycle collison near the intersection of Avenida Cochise and Copper Sunrise at 11:55 a.m.

Police say the motorcyclist was found dead at the scene. He has been identified as 51-year-old Brian E. Hurdlow.

The crash appeared to be a part of a two-vehicle incident according to the report that police received.

Police say accident reconstructionists and detectives from SVPD's Special Operations Bureau were called out to investigate the incident between the motorcyclist and the driver of an SUV allegedly involved in the crash.
