The Salvation Army is helping children prepare for the new school year with the help of community donations.

A donation drop-off area will be available inside 12 Fry's Food Stores across Tucson.

Items needed include backpacks, binders, pencils, paper, colored pencils, glue, crayons, pencil pouches and other necessary school-related supplies.

The donation drive is intended to help children in lower income families. Supplies will be donated to students kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Tucson community plays such a huge role when providing children these types of services. Last year, we were able to provide 125 children with the main essentials to succeed, said Major Dawn Rocheleau, Salvation Army Tucson Area Coordinator. This year, we need the Tucson community’s help again to prepare these kids for the upcoming school year.
