TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Get ready for lot of construction around Tucson starting this month and next.

The City of Tucson is rolling out a busy schedule of projects.

Reconstruction is already underway along Old Spanish Trail between 22nd and Houghton.

Neighborhood streets are getting ground down and replaced in the area around Peter Howell Elementary near  Columbus and Fifth.

It's an example of road repairs made possible when Tucson voters approved bonds so the city could borrow the money it takes.

Engineer Sam Credio says there's less traffic in the summer but what's really driving the surge in projects is the urge to get the job done.

He says, “We have a little bit of everything right now.  In face we have some really large streets like Irvington Road that are going to be receiving some new pavement.  We also have six neighborhoods that are receiving new pavement as well.  It's really a mixture of both that we're currently working on."

Some current road projects will be wrapping up. The Pima and Wilmot intersection should be done next week. And long term work on Houghton near 22nd should finish in August.
