This Saturday marked the first annual Sound the Alarm-Smoke Walk, organized by the Red Cross.

During this event, their goal was to install 1,000 new smoke detectors into homes and apartments across Tucson.

Although this event was postponed nationwide, in this region, Red Cross decided to move forward.

"The greatest natural disaster that we face year in and year out is home fires. We have a wonderful community here of volunteers."

The Red Cross plans to host more of these events in order to make sure more people have dependable smoke detectors, which have also been approved by the Tucson Fire Department.
