TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - 135 million people across the country are expected to do some holiday shopping this weekend.

Instead of stores opening their doors tomorrow, it's now a new tradition to start on Thanksgiving. Some customers spent their holiday standing in line for hours to make sure they got the best deal.

Toys R Us, JC Penny and Best Buy started their Black Friday deals a little early. Doors at the Best Buy on Broadway and Wilmot opened at 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon. More than 200 people lined up outside the store to get their hands on the latest gadgets and tech gear.

The very first customers said they had been standing in line since 8:00 Wednesday morning. One of the big deals that brought people out was a doorbuster on flat screen TV's. Tickets were given out to the first 35 people in line. Nine On Your Side spoke to one woman who wasn't happy she didn't make the cut.

"They deserve it, I get it but it's just frustrating," said Valerie Ponce. "If you're going to have that big of a deal, have a few more TV's to offer. Have fifty, or 38 even and we would have been good. But I mean it's all about the experience."

Once the doors were open, the store was buzzing with customers looking for their holiday gifts. Some of the hottest items were flat screen TV's, computers and smartphones.
