Since Pokemon Go was released, Reid Park in Tucson has become a popular place to play.

On Friday there was an event for single people who like the app. The event was posted in a public Facebook group for Pokemon Go players in Tucson.

Patti Sounnakhone organized the meet-up after hearing about a similar gathering in Tempe. There were fake flowers that were colored to look like Pokemon balls. She says since she started playing she's met a ton of new friends. Pokemon Go has helped people that may be shy get out and have fun, Sounnakhone said.

The event was geared for those 18 and older, and was open to anyone interested in meeting new people.

Sounnakhone hopes to hold more meet-ups in the future.

During the week some say there have been upwards of 300 people at Reid Park, and on the weekends even more. Many include families and kids of all ages.

Police have reminded people to be safe while they playing and always be aware of your surroundings.
