The Pima County Board of Supervisors approved the donation of a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria to the Pima County Joint Technical Education (JTED) Criminal Justice Program at their July 5 meeting.
Sheriff Chris Nanos of PCSD saw an opportunity to help in the training of future deputies and had the donation added to the July 5 meeting agenda, according to a news release.
PCSD says the donated Crown Victoria has seen action in the Tucson Mountain, Green Valley and San Xavier Districts.
JTED's Criminal Justice program focuses on teaching their students the history, role and philosophy of law enforcement. The program uses hands-on training experience where students are able to utilize patrol cars in realistic law enforcement scenarios.
