More than 100,000 people in the US are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant. About 2,300 of them are here in Arizona. A ceremony today at Banner UMC helped families of organ donors come together and find peace knowing their loved ones helped save lives.

Sixteen families gathered at the hospital to remember the lives of those who donated their organs. The annual event honors surviving families for saving lives through organ and tissue donation here in Southern Arizona.

Nine On Your Side spoke to one woman who lost her husband 2 years ago. His tissue donation helped save the life of a 4-year-old little boy.

"When you realize how important it is and that you're saving lives, sometimes multiple lives, it becomes such a beautiful thing," said Christine Eisenfeld. "It doesn't bring your loved one back but it does make for such and important part of your grieving. It's a wonderful thing and it has helped my kids and I tremendously."
