SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - A new memorial stands outside the Sierra Vista Police Department to remember officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

Boy Scout Zachary Chrzanowski planned and designed the memorial.

He started back in April of last year and had help from more than 50 volunteers who put in nearly 13,000 hours of work.

"Everyone in this city has been a huge help. I've had people out here working every single weekend since September. So it's, yea, the city has been a huge help," said Chrzanowski.

The memorial features a wall with the names of 27 officers from different agencies who died while serving in Cochise County.

Another wall is dedicated to two K-9 officers who lost their lives as well.

Chraznowski's father and both grandfathers were in law enforcement and he says that helped inspire the idea for the memorial.
