Officials from the Marana Police Department have arrested a suspect in connection with a carjacking that happened at the Giant gas station located at 7820 N Silverbell Rd.
On Monday, just before noon, an adult female victim was pumping gas near her vehicle when she was approached by a male suspect brandishing a firearm. The suspect demanded the victim’s keys and fled in her vehicle. The victim was not injured.
Officials located and stopped the vehicle near Wild Horse Pass on I-10 approaching the metro Phoenix area. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The weapon was located in the victim’s vehicle and was found to be a replica firearm.
The suspect, 30-year-old, Wesley Schenk was arrested and booked into the Maricopa County Jail on felony charges of Theft of Means of Transportation, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault with a Simulated Deadly Weapon, and Armed Robbery.
Marana Police have stated that this incident is isolated in nature.
