Police officers responded to a single vehicle crash in the 500 block of North Igo Way just after 2:15 Thursday morning.

When officers arrived they found a pickup truck in a drainage ditch.

The truck was on its side and the driver was still in the vehicle. Members of Tucson Fire responded, but the driver was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

The driver has been identified as 76-year-old Frank Gamez.

According to a release, investigators determined that "the pick-up, a 2002 Ford F250, was traveling southbound on North Igo Way approaching East 5 th Street. At that location, the roadway is split by a drainage ditch with guardrails and signage directing traffic. The driver did not follow the curve in the roadway and drove through the guardrail and into the drainage ditch approximately 8 feet below. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The driver of the pick-up was not wearing a seatbelt."
