Many Houston families are still picking up the pieces after Hurricane Harvey destroyed communities.
A group of 10 students from Star High School's Pima County JTED construction program is getting ready to put their skills to good use.
They loaded up their supplies Thursday afternoon and plan to take off this Sunday during their fall break.
While watching the news, their teacher Jim Luckow says he brought up the idea to his students to spend their fall break helping people they didn't even know and many students were excited to take on the opportunity.
"Helping people makes you feel a little bit better of yourself inside and it makes you happy to see the grins on their face after you help them," said student Juan Pesqueira.
"I just want to make a difference," said Isaiah Reyna, another student going on the trip. "I want to help as much people as I can through my whole life."
"I was really excited by the desire to want to help here they want to give up their fall break they are willing to go to a place they never been and work on a house of someone they don't know and for them to want to do that was really exciting for me," said Luckow.
Luckow says this trip wouldn't have been possible without the support from the community.
Their GoFundMe page already raised over $7,000.
Luckow says that money will go towards travel, food, and supplies, as well as purchase gift cards for the families in need.
