AZDPS with the assistance of Green Valley Fire rescued a hiker who was lost in Madera Canyon Friday morning.
According to the Green Valley Fire District, on Thursday the 53-year-old hiker went off the main trail and realized he was not in a familiar area. He then sent his wife a message saying he was ok, but would have to spend the night on the mountain.
An AZDPS helicopter was able to locate the man after an aerial search Friday.
The hiker was evaluated after landing by Green Valley crews and it was determined that they did not have any injuries or medical complaints.
