Game and Fish releases wildlife crossing survey results

According to the Arizona Department of Game and Fish, more than a thousand animals have used the State Route 77 overpass and underpass wildlife crossing since the project, that cost a total of $9.5 million, opened in 2016.

Of the 1,182 animals that have used the crossing, deer are the most frequent users, having crossed 565 times at the crossing, which is located in Oro Valley. Coyotes crossed 303 times, javelina 250 times and bobcats 57 times.

The projects are part of the $2.1 billion Regional Transportation Authority improvement plan passed in 2006.
