The Loft Cinema served as the host of two documentaries that touched on Arizona's growing heroin and opioid epidemic.
According to a report released by the Arizona Department of Health Services, heroin deaths have tripled in Arizona since 2012.
The two films shown were, "Hooked: Tracking Heroin's Hold on Arizona", and "Hooked RX: From Prescription to Addiction".
Both films were produced by students and faculty at Arizona State University's Walter Cronkite School.
After the films were shown, an open discussion was led by a panel of law enforcement, counselors and doctors. They took questions from the audience and dove deeper into the discussion of heroine and its affects in neighborhoods.
