Democrats want Arizona to count out of precinct ballots

Arizona democrats are heading to Federal Court in Arizona to change our voting system, and it could mean more ballots are counted this election season.

Lawyers representing the State and National Democratic parties are trying to change three specific election laws:
  1. Getting ballots cast by voters in the wrong precinct to count: Democrats say Arizona throws out more ballots cast in the wrong precinct than any other state. Many of those thrown out ballots are cast by minority voters. A Phoenix judge did turn down this request once earlier this month saying the state does not have to count those votes, and there's no sign of discrimination in throwing them out.
  2. One extra day of voter registration: A holiday did short voters one day to register, but Republicans argue Democrats are challenging this too close to election day.
  3. Banning the law that stops people from collecting your ballot to turn it in for you.
This will go before a three judge panel at the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. We could see decisions on all of these rulings as early as sometime Wednesday or Thursday.
