A pedestrian is in critical condition following a crash on Tuesday morning.

The crash closed Country Club from Ginter to Bilby but the roadway has now reopened.

Tucson Police told KGUN 9 that the pedestrian was walking along the road because there were no sidewalks.

TPD Sergeant Mike Allen says, "jaywalking is the highest contributing factors of these serious and fatal pedestrian related collisions."

Just this year Tucson has seen 18 fatal pedestrians crashes - that's up 61% from the 11 fatal crashes in 2016.

Police are focusing on high risk areas in town. "Focus on intersections and locations of high pedestrian usage that also have fatalities or high collision areas," says Allen.
