Drivers are calling it another headache on the northwest side.

After the Ina construction project began about seven months ago, crews began a construction project on Cortaro Farms Road between Camino de Oeste and Thornydale Monday.

Drivers are bracing for more delays on the northwest side as the Pima County Department of Transportation and its contractor Hunter Contracting Inc. begin a nearly $19 million construction project.

"It's going to make my mornings a lot earlier for sure getting up a lot earlier to bring them to school and put another probably 20-30 minutes into my commute," said Kimberly Ireland, who drives Cortaro Farms Road every day.

The road improvements include multi-use lanes, curbed medians, a storm drain system, retaining and noise walls and traffic signals, according to the Pima County Department of Transportation.

The project is expected to be completed by winter of next year.
