The city of Tucson is taking step towards solutions to deadly pedestrian threats on our streets.

City and county leaders are allocating $100- thousand  to install three new HAWK crosswalks.
The three locations where the crosswalks will be installed are:
  1. Speedway and Richey Boulevards
  2. Grant Road and Arcadia Avenue
  3. 22nd Street and Belvedere Avenue
These locations rank as the city's top three priorities, out of 159 locations for HAWK signals. City officials say it's just been years of too many close calls. and dangerous pedestrian crossing and they want to find an immediate solution to what they are calling an emergency.

The agreement is effective immediately. Although there is no word yet when the construction of the crosswalks will begin, the city is hoping to kick start the project as soon as possible.
