U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers arrested a convicted rapist who had been deported and re-entered the United States illegally.
According to the CBP, 25-year-old Raul Cordova-Garcia was arrested near Sasabe Sunday. He was convicted of statutory rape in Georgia in 2012. He was deported in 2013 after serving a 12-month sentence.
Cordova was placed in federal custody and faces prosecution for criminal immigration violations.
