The Health Department and Pima Animal Care Center say they received test results yesterday indicating a bobcat has tested positive for rabies.

One week earlier the same bobcat was killed by a man who was protecting his pets.

Officials say this happened in a rural area along the border of Pima/Pinal County, Northeast of Mount Lemmon. They say the man is now receiving the proper care as well as his pets.

If faced with a similar situation officials say they recommend not approaching wild animals, talking to your children about avoiding wild animals, protect your pets and if you see an animal acting oddly, contact the PACC.
