WILLIAMS, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV/AP) - Fire officials are reporting that the Beale Fire on the Williams Ranger District has grown to a more than 1,700 acres. The fire is burning about 16 miles northwest of Williams in northern Arizona.
KGUN9’s Chief Meteorologist Erin Christiansen says the monsoon weather activity will return and bring in a chance for showers and higher humidity which will hopefully cause the fire activity to decrease.
Firefighters are allowing the blaze burn in the hope of preventing future wildfires.
Smoke drifted into west Flagstaff Sunday night and was gone by morning. Less smoke is expected over the next couple of days as fire activity decreases.
Kendrick Mountain visitors should be aware of potential smoke impacts in the area.
