Love food? Love singing? Arizona Choral Arts wants you!
Songs include "Jalapeno Chorus," "Lollipop" & more
The chorus is recruiting both men and women to whet their appetite for tasty parody songs about food – including the “Jalapeno Chorus,” "Food, Glorious Food" from the musical Oliver, “Lollipop,” “Pizza, Pasta,” and “Chocolate!”
Music Director Terrie Ashbaugh – who also happens to be a gourmet cook – said the focus on food is just plain fun. The silly program also has a serious intent – “we’ll be soliciting recipes from our audience for a future cookbook,” she said.
Rehearsals will be held on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. from June 5 through July 24 at Ascension Lutheran Church, 1220 W. Magee. The cost is $55 per person. The concluding performance will be at the church on July 28 at 7 p.m. All voice parts are needed and there is no audition required. For more information or to register, go to t www.AZsings.org and click on Summer Chorus. Interested vocalists also can contact Ashbaugh at 404-3148 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
