It’s now been 5 weeks since baby Daniella came into this world and my husband, Gilbert, and I are loving every moment with our precious daughter. We had been dreaming about our bundle of joy for months, but taking care of a newborn is no easy task especially when it’s your first.

I’m nursing on demand (usually every two hours) and sleep deprivation is real! I don't remember the last time I was up until 4 a.m., but that has the been reality for weeks.

Good news is she's no longer confusing her days and nights!

At 5 weeks, she's sleeping more through the night, during the day she's more alert, smiling, making funny noises, and sounds.

Prior to Daniella's arrival people warned us that the first few months would be hard, but you don't really understand until you live it. And boy, do we understand now!

So what are new parents to do in order to survive? Gilbert and I have started taking naps when Daniella sleeps. Although we'd like to take care of chores, instead we’ve chosen to catch some zzz's over doing things around the house.

Meeting our baby's demands are difficult, but she's worth it!

Until next time...
