TUCSON, AZ (KGUN) - A corporate seminar for McDonald's owners and operators was interrupted by an outspoken and uninvited speaker.
Dan Mathews, the Senior Vice President of PETA, jumped onto the stage at the La Paloma Resort and proceeded to lecture the unsuspecting McDonald's business owners about the inhumane slaughter of chickens practiced by the restaurant franchise.
Before McDonald's security officials could escort Mathews from the stage, the animal right's activist reminded the company of it's outdated killing method used by American suppliers.
The cruel slaughtering methods often cause broken wings and legs and require that chickens be scalded to death in defeathering tanks.
PETA is not the only group concerned with the outdated killing practices.
McDonald's, animal welfare advisory panel, is aware of the need to eliminate unnecessary cruelty and is seeking an upgrade to slaughtering practices.
