A 9 year old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a car Sunday afternoon. It happened as she crossed Pantano, between Speedway and Broadway.
Police say, they do not plan to charge the driver.
Sgt. Tim Beam, of the Tucson Police Department said, "In this particular case, I don't know that the driver would be able to see the little girl until she was in front of her; but you just need to be aware of your surroundings and what's going on on both sides of the road when you're driving."
The girl was far from any crosswalk or traffic light when she tried to cross. Police say, crosswalks are no guarantee you'll be safe crossing the street, but they will improve your safety because drivers are more likely to expect pedestrians in a crosswalk.
