SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (AP) — A jury has found a Sierra Vista woman guilty of first-degree murder in the stabbing death of her boyfriend. The Cochise County Superior Court jury also convicted 21-year-old Ajelina Louise Roth Lewis Thursday with tampering with physical evidence in the death of 21-year-old William Palmer.
A prosecutor told the jury during closing arguments Palmer was stabbed 25 times while sleeping in his bedroom at his residence in Sierra Vista on March 12, 2010.
Lewis' attorney said it was drug traffickers who executed Palmer in order to send a message to Lewis that she should not interfere with their business.
The Sierra Vista Herald reports police found three blood stains in Lewis' car, one of which matched the DNA of the victim.
Sentencing is set for June 17.
