BEYOND at Children's Museum Tucson
The Children’s Museum Tucson and Armory Park Senior Center have once again teamed up for the community-wide outdoor festival, BEYOND. The Children’s Museum Tucson is opening their doors for free on Saturday, January 11, 2014, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. thanks to the financial support from Madden Media and Pima Federal Credit Union. The Children’s Museum is one of the sites for the upcoming, BEYOND Main Event: “Together We MOVE!” where children and their families will celebrate health and wellness from noon to 3 p.m. Beyond is a day for the Tucson community to get out, active and embrace what life in Tucson has to offer. While Amory Park Senior Center will host family friendly bike rides and Zumba, families and children of all ages will have the opportunity to discover PLAY at Children’s Museum Tucson. In addition to the Museum’s many health and wellness interactive exhibits, kids and grown-ups can enjoy jumping castles, the rock wall and learn from onsite interactive booths. Participating guest organizations for BEYOND at include 9 Queens, Ben’s Bells Project, Literacy Connects, Pima County Public Library, Southwest Ambulance and Tree House Farm. Outdoor entertainment: From Noon – 3:00pm • CLIMB to new heights on the Rock Walls • BOUNCE off the walls in Cox Jumping Castles • MEET Kiwi the goat and friends at Treehouse Farm • PAINT a bell and commit to kindness with Ben’s Bells • CREATE a rainbow of food choices on MyPlate with Children’s Museum Tucson • READ a new story and get a library card from the Pima County Library’s Book Bike Check out Tucson’s talent on the Children’s Museum Stage! • 12:15pm – Tucson Twist-it’s - So much MORE than just jump ropes! Furthering last year’s message of kindness, all guests will once again receive a friendship bracelet to wear in honor of the donors who underwrote their visit to the Museum. The bracelet is a call for visitors to “pay it forward” with a random act of kindness and they will be asked to wear the bracelet until they have performed their individual act of kindness. Children will also be able to paint a kindness coin that will be distributed by Ben’s Bells Project to others.
