Veterans Rally 2013

  • Print

Veteran’s Day is not just a day of remembrance, but also a call to arms for the community and local churches to address the psychological, emotional, and physical trauma that many of our finest men and women struggle with. All too often, perhaps due to military titles or ranks, and/or to the severity of the experience that military members may have sustained while serving our country, the local community and church members may feel that they are not equipped to address these important issues of the heart. As a result, people experiencing Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other forms of trauma are often overlooked by the congregation or are passed on to secular forms of therapy that include psychotropic drugs and counseling. While this sort of measure may be helpful in its right place, many psychologists are finding that there is an element that is still missing in these treatments: the faith element. It is our desire as part of the body of Christ to reach out and honor current active duty, guard, reserve, retired and former military members who have served and/or who are currently serving in the U.S. Military this Veteran’s Day. We plan to raise awareness in the local community surrounding today's military by informing and educating civilians and church members to see that there is a biblical foundation centered on the redemptive power of forgiveness through Jesus Christ which provides true healing to those impacted by PTSD and other traumas. - Psalm 147:3 For further information on starting your own ministry to address PTSD or on joining a local group, please contact: • John Durako at 520-419-0535 or • Anthony Montez at 520-784-1747 or
