Tucson Fire Foundation Casino Night

  • Print

The “Casino Night” fundraiser at the Arizona Historical Society is intended to raise funds to sustain current Fire Foundation initiatives: local fire service culture and history, as well as Firefighter Health and Wellness, including educational programming, Firefighter Cardiac Disease Assessment, Firefighter Fitness and Injury Prevention, and the upcoming “Firefighters to Israel” delegation. The objectives of the delegation are many, and include: creating a platform for the mutual sharing of international departments’ ideas, philosophies and procedures; collecting “best practices” from other countries, and bringing them back to metropolitan Tucson to enhance our delivery of services; developing a citizen diplomacy program for Tucson- area firefighters; and creating a long-lasting linkage between the host country and Tucson area fire agencies. Other areas of interest include: becoming a catalyst for progressive and visionary change within the American fire service; assisting in the training and application of new technologies with regional fire service and first responder personnel and affected citizen populations; and improving employee and organizational performance by experiencing best practices. Additional objective include: pursuing innovative ideas for new approaches to governmental issues, emergency preparedness, disaster response and mental health of professional and civilians; as well as establishing an ongoing, sustainable multiyear commitment with other international agencies and regional participants. The Fire Foundation Board of Trustees and staff members are all volunteers who are deeply committed to “taking care of those who take care of us.” All Foundation volunteers are highly accomplished in their respective fields – including, most notably, Golder Ranch Fire Chief Randy Karrer, who was recently named Arizona Fire Chief of the Year. Chief Karrer’s passion for the fire service, and compassion for the firefighters played a role in his receiving the prestigious award. These attributes also make it an honor to have Chief Karrer on the Foundation Board. Please join us for dinner and a silent auction, we hope to see you there!
