Kruger Brothers in concert
The world-renowned Kruger Brothers will be performing at the Vail Theatre of the Arts on Thursday, September 12. Originally from Switzerland, brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger started playing music together when they were very young and were performing regularly by the time they were 11 and 12 years old. They teamed up with New York City native, Joel Landsberg, in the early 90’s and were formally introduced to American audiences in 1997. Kruger Brothers’ music has elements of bluegrass, folk, and even classical. Yet their music is all their own with a sound that is honest, unpretentious, cultivated, inspiring, and delightfully fresh. One of Arizona’s favorite bluegrass/folk bands, The Dreadnutts, will open the show for the Kruger Brothers. Be forewarned! The Dreadnutts have guitars, and they are not afraid to use them. Iconic Capitol Records recording artist, Bob Meighan, is joined by National Fingerpicking Champion, Peter McLaughlin, Telluride Flatpicking Champion, Earl Edmonson, fun-loving Kirby Mittelmeier on mandolin, and Dr. Brian Davies on bass. The show is from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Vail Theatre of the Arts, located at 10701 E. Mary Ann Cleveland Way, on the campus of Empire High School. Advance reserved seat tickets are $17 and $22 and are highly recommended. If not sold out, tickets will be $20 and $25 at the door, cash or check only. Information and tickets are available at www.vtota.org. Call Bonnie Vining at 879-3925 for more information or to purchase tickets by cash or check directly from the theatre.
