Arizona History Museum: Mapping The Territory Exhibit
The exhibit covers the Gadsden Purchase in 1853 to President Abraham Lincoln signing the Arizona Organic Act in 1863, creating the Territory of Arizona. The maps in the exhibit show the changing physical boundaries of Arizona. Mining and military activities in the region-along with notable individuals-played a major role in the development and shape of the Territory of Arizona. These individuals, their activities and their politics influenced how Arizona looks today.
