Dolan Ellis, Arizona’s Official State Balladeer and founder and artist-in-residence of The Arizona Folklore Preserve, has put together a special concert to celebrate the wonderful relationship that has existed and hopefully will continue to exist between the neighboring states of Arizona and Sonora, Mexico. Arizona’s border with Sonora has been in the national news lately, not always in a light that shines favorably on our state, and Cochise County is the center of much of the controversy. Ellis’ intention with this concert is to help to soothe some of the tension that exists and to make us all remember, despite what is happening today, that Arizona enjoys a population which includes many people of Hispanic origin who have contributed greatly to the economic and cultural fabric of our state.
