Saturday, May 5 “ What Does Music Mean?” – notes & sounds put together so well that we get pleasure out of hearing them. Composers: Rossini, Chopin, Beethoven, J. Strauss, R. Strauss, Mussorgsky, Tchaikovsky, Webern, Schumann, Rozsa, Ravel. Saturday, June 2 “What Makes Music Symphonic?” demonstration in the development of symphonic music. Audience sings “Frere Jacques,” demonstrating sequence & imitation in symphonic composition. Composers: Mozart, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Alford, Blackwell, Gershwin, Brahms. Saturday, July 7 “What Is Sonata Form?” Explains Exposition, Development and Recapitulation. Composers: Mozart, Lennon & McCartney, Bizet, Prokofiev. Saturday, August 4 “Quiz Concert, How Musical Are You?” – True or False questions with musical examples. Prizes for students, pleasure for adults who find joy in learning!
