Description:

The North Tucson Firefighters Association, I.A.F.F Local 3832,The Northwest Fire Fighters Association, I.A.F.F. Local 3572, and the Tucson Quarter Midget Association (TQMA) along with other local Police and Fire departments and community businesses will be teaming up to host the 1st annual Cinco De Mayo Quarter Midget Race and Touch-a-Truck event. The purpose of this fun filled charity event will be to launch a drowning awareness program titled Project Trident. Project Trident is a drowning prevention and awareness campaign aimed at reducing the number of deaths in Pima County. Project Trident is a collective partnership of local fire departments’ Unions dedicated to assisting with providing awareness, barriers, and classes to help prevent the senseless loss of life from drowning. Of course, we could not have done anything without the help of our fellow community members. Our goal for this year’s event is to provide free swim lessons to the children living in the Tucson area. On May 5th, 2012, the Tucson Quarter Midget Association will have some exciting racing to watch. Children and adults will not only have the opportunity to see this exciting sport, but they will also have the opportunity to touch, climb on and ask questions about their favorite trucks or vehicles. This event will be held at the TQMA race track, I-10 frontage road south of the Avra Valley exit. Event entrance fee is $5 per carload of two to eight people, $4 for one person in a car and $2 per pedestrian or bicyclist. Please support Project Trident and join your local Firefighters and the Tucson Quarter Midget Association as we launch this prevention program and awareness campaign in an attempt to halt the number of children drowning in Pima County.
