  • Print
Description:

Celtic Fusion recording artist, Arvel Bird, returns to the beautiful Abounding Grace Sanctuary for an encore performance. Arvel performed at Abounding Grace with Tony Redhouse in January of 2011. This time, he will do a solo “Fiddle-icious” performance which focuses on his Celtic and Native American fiddling. Arvel's early training in classical violin, combined with his years on the road with Glen Campbell, Loretta Lynn, Louise Mandrell, Clay Walker, and others plus his Native American and Celtic roots, have helped to shape a style and a presence that is all his own. He is known around the world for his dramatic connection between Celtic and Native American traditions. Arvel's music and the experiences he shares capture the hearts of his audiences. His performances are enlightening, engaging, and humanizing. Arvel uses the violin, Native American flutes and Celtic whistles to create a fusion of both his Scottish (Clan Kennedy) and Native American (Southern Paiute) roots that are uniquely his own and intricately woven throughout his songs. Bird has released 19 CDs and two DVDs, earning him numerous music awards in the United States and Canada. The most recent are: Best Instrumental Album, Best Traditional Instrumental, Best Instrumental Album, Best Producer/ Engineer. During his years in the Midwest, Bird won the Indiana State Fiddle Contest four times while still perfecting a variety of musical styles. Although based in Nashville, TN, Bird is permanently on the road, connecting with audiences the old-fashioned way… live. This is where Arvel’s emotionally-driven performance thrives, igniting concert venues, symphony halls, festivals and more, leaving his audiences inspired, transfixed and transformed. Arvel Bird will perform at Abounding Grace Sanctuary, 2450 S. Kolb, just north of Golf Links on the west side of Kolb, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Advance discount tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets. If not sold out, tickets at the door will be $20 cash.
