Sara is a born-and-bred Tucson native, who's back for her second tour of duty at KGUN 9 On Your Side! After graduating from Canyon del Oro High School, Sara graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Business Management. She began her career as a Newscast Producer at KOB-TV in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After two years, she returned to her hometown as a Newscast Producer at KGUN 9 On Your Side, and quickly moved to the position of Lead Assignment Editor.
Did you know?
Sara was inspired to go into TV news by Aaron Sorkin's little-known sitcom, "Sports Night", which followed the trials and tribulations of a smart, energetic television staff as they scrambled to put on a nightly cable sports show, similar ESPN's SportsCenter.
After the birth of her son, Jackson, in 2008, Sara decided to take a break from the stress of TV news. She worked for two years as the Special Events Coordinator for Child & Family Resources, where she planned events, fundraisers, and handled the agency's marketing and public relations. During that time, she had her daughter, Delaney.
Watching the coverage of the January 8th shooting from her living room, Sara felt that burning desire to be back in the newsroom. She returned to KGUN 9 On Your Side the following November as a Freelance Newscast Producer. She became the Morning Executive Producer for Good Morning Tucson shortly after, and is excited to lead her team to success.
Sara also has a passion for politics, and serves as the newsroom point-person for all things Project Red, White, and Blue.
