TUCSON (KGUN9- TV)- An investigation continues into a home-made barricade that blocked I-19 Thursday morning.  A group of protestors called "Freedom for Arizona" covered the southbound section of the highway with tires, tar and broken glass.

They sent pictures of their actions in a release to several independent media web sites, stating, "This blockade is a temporary shutdown of the very road that is used to deport people deemed 'illegal' as well as disruption of the flow of capital."

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Brian Jimenez says by the time officers arrived on scene, the protesters were gone.

"Dropped off those items blocking Interstate 19 and immediately left the area," he said, "I've never seen anything like that."

No one was injured, but DPS is still trying to track down whoever was behind the dangerous demonstration.
