TEMPE, Ariz (KGUN9-TV) - Water is rushing out of the Tempe Town Lake dam on the west end of the lake.
The break occurred just after 10 p.m. Tuesday. An aerial view showed water gushing out through the Salt River.
West of the lake is Sky Harbor International Airport. There is no immediate threat to the airport.
Tempe Town Lake is an artificial reservoir holding at its peak 3,065 acre-feet of water. The west dam is approximately 16 feet high and made of rubber coated fabric tube approximately 1 inch thick.
