TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson will join hundreds of communities in 115 countries hosting local memorial events to raise awareness about AIDS and HIV on Sunday.

The Tucson event, at Himmel Park at 1000 N. Tucson Blvd. at East Speedway, will begin at 6 p.m. It is sponsored, in part,  by the Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network, Wingspan and the Volunteer Center of Southern Arizona and by several other nonprofit groups.

The event will feature a candlelight vigil, stories from those who have been touched by HIV/AIDS, music and dance.

Prayers will be offered and AIDS quilt panels will be on display. The event is open to all people.
