FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Principals in the Flagstaff Unified School District are recommending what schools should be closed.
During a school board meeting Tuesday night, the principals recommended closing South Beaver Elementary School and Sinagua High School at the end of the school year, along with either Christensen or Thomas elementary school and either Flagstaff or Mount Elden middle school.
The final decision lies with the school board.
The goal is to trim about $3 million from the district operating budget.
However difficult the decision, South Beaver Principal Frank Garcia said administrators were thinking about the approximately 10,700 children who attend school in the district.
