Detectives with the Tucson Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 26 year-old, Sheridan Gomez, for the unlawful furnishing of a harmful item to a minor Tuesday evening.
The original call to authorities occured on Tuesday November 17, 2009, just before 5 p.m., the caller at the High School wanted to report a situation where a student received a sexually explicit image on her cellphone.
Officers during the course of their investigation learned that Mr. Gomez, employed as a campus monitor, sent the student a picture of his genitals
The case was forwarded to Detectives who determined that the Gomez befriended the female student and gave him her cell phone number prior to Tuesday.
Sometime prior to Tuesday the student received unwanted text messages from Mr. Gomez including an obscene image.
On Tuesday the student notified school district officials who called the Police, Gomez was arrested without incident late Tuesday evening.
Police booked Gomez into the Pima County Jail on one count of Furnishing Harmful Items to Minors, in Arizona that crime is classified as a class four felony.
