Tucson Police make arrest in cigarette theft case

Tucson, AZ - Tucson Police Department Neighborhood Crimes Detectives assigned to Operations Division Midtown have arrested 48 year-old, James M. Brown, in connection with a series of cigarette thefts from local area convenience stores.

Detectives have linked Mr. Brown to at least four separate thefts, which occurred during the month of October.

During each incident, Mr. Brown entered the business and accessed the employee area behind the customer counter.

He took numerous cartons of cigarettes and in one incident also stole lottery tickets.

Information was developed from viewers who recognized Mr. Brown from surveillance photographs aired through local media.

He was arrested on November 17th, and was booked into the Pima County Jail.

He is charged with four counts of Burglary 3rd Degree and four counts of Theft.

Detectives are not ruling out Mr. Brown’s involvement in other similar thefts.
