Museum honoring vets set to open

Associated Press - November 10, 2009 12:34 PM ET

BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz. (AP) - A temporary museum filled with World War II artifacts as well as dedicated to U.S. veterans is set to open Wednesday near Bullhead City.

Many of the items were at one time on display at the Ramada Express hotel in Laughlin, Nev.

When the hotel decided to close the museum, it donated the items three years ago to Kevin and Julie Hassett.

Due to the recession, plans were put on hold to build a museum on an acre of land set aside at the Hassett's funeral home in Mohave Valley.

The American Heroes Museum will include memorabilia donated by Veterans United Inc., which was displayed in its recently closed Arizona Military Heritage Center.
