DPS seizes over $300,000 in routine traffic stop

TUCSON, AZ - On November 3, 2009, at approximately 2:00 p.m. an Arizona Department of Public Safety officer stopped a white 2004 Ford F-150 pick up truck for following too closely eastbound on Interstate 10, at milepost 97, approximately 50 miles west of Phoenix. 

A subsequent search revealed $1,000 in the back seat and several vacuum sealed packages of U.S. currency in a compartment behind the rear seat containing $307,090.

The driver was carrying another $360 for a total of $308,450.  He stated he was driving to Laveen from Los Angeles.
