Rape convictions against 3 men are overturned

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Three Cameron men convicted of rape in 2007 are going free after their convictions were overturned.

The three, 33-year-old Michael Reed Jr., 42-year-old David T. Huskon and 38-year-old Aaron Charley had been convicted by a jury in the rape of a 19-year-old woman in Doney Park.

Prosecutors argued the three men took turns raping the woman while the three men argued the sex was consensual. A fourth man, who prosecutors said was not involved, testified against the three men.

In April, the Arizona Court of Appeals said the men did not receive a fair trial because they were limited in the amount of evidence they could present to show the sex was consensual.

The case returned to a Coconino County judge for retrial, but the three men accepted a plea deal to a lesser charge of sexual abuse.

The judge sentenced the men to time served.
