TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - At least one person has died and another has life threatening injuries after being involved in a serious car accident on Interstate 10 near Congress.
Capt. Trish Tracy with Tucson Fire says they responded after 8:30 p.m. to the accident. While headed to the scene crews were told one of vehicles was on fire and that a bystander was pulling a woman out of it.
Paramedics found two victims, one woman who was pulled out of the burning vehicle and a man who was ejected out of his pickup-truck.
A spokesperson with the Arizona Department of Public Safety Duty Office says that they received reports that a vehicle was traveling the wrong direction on I-10 prior to the crash but could not confirm this was the cause of the accident citing a pending investigation.
DPS says that eastbound traffic is moving slowly, with all but the right shoulder lanes blocked.
